How often we criticize Martha, saying she was so out of place. Busying with everything but one thing. The truth is we are just like Martha in many ways.
She might have been cumbered with serving food or hospitality aspects but we are strangely cumbered in church with ushering, singing, collecting offerings, decorating, and plenty other services. Hey ! do not get me wrong; God wants us to serve in His house but not to the extend that we neglect the Word. Only one thing is vital and these gives weight to the others (Luke 10:38-42)
Mary was doing the one thing that was needful. However it doesn’t mean she should not do other needful services in God’s house. Find balance

This passage always remind me of a saying I heard once ‘not everything that is good is right’ Martha was doing a good thing but not the right thing in that moment.

Because we get so wrapped up in the physical aspects of church, we can sometimes forget that we need to spend time in God’s Word; just as much and maybe more than we do anything else.
Also, I wanted to thank you for following my blog and pray that you are encouraged by it or that you gain a new perspective from it.
