FORGIVE YOURSELF

Thursday, 19th August 2021
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
There is freedom in forgiveness, but you and I must accept that freedom.
A friend of mine once looked at me a said these two words, the words changed my life: “forgive yourself.”
Let’s face it, there’s going to be times that we blow it, we sin, and we even mess up after we are saved. But the blood that Jesus shed has saved us from all of our sins, past, present, and future. Because that is the truth we must accept that truth and receive that truth and put it to work in our lives. We must forgive ourselves.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John1:9).
God is faithful to forgive us of all our sins not because of what we do but because of what Jesus did. His work on the cross nailed all the sins of the entire world to the cross, because of that we are cleansed of all unrighteousness.
We might not feel clean but feelings often lie, we can’t trust our salvation to feelings we must trust Christ, His words, and the finished work of the cross. Jesus has come, Jesus died, and most importantly, Jesus rose again to prove that our sins are forgiven.
Freedom is found when we find Jesus, the power of Christ within us allows us to forgive ourselves. But we must accept that truth.
